Smoothies – Pump Up The Base

IMG_7954.JPG

Yes, we all know smoothies are a great way to get in all your greens and fruits, you know they are good for you, everyone is drinking them but is your smoothie actually helping you?   Also, how the hell do all those Smoothie blogs get their smoothies looking so bright and colourful while mine always looks like fucking sewage water?  Haha 🙂

Is your smoothie lacking on fibre?  Putting the right fruits will help you get enough fibre.  Seems like the most common fruit many peeps use is bananas because they also help with sweetness but they lack in fibre, try using berries for more fibre and less sugar.

However, adding fruit my add sweetness, be careful not to pack in too much fruit or you may just be packing on the calories, just reach for that burger if your going to do that…..teehee 🙂

This is the base of all my ideal smoothie recipes that not only tastes great but also seems to come out nice and colourful (most of the time) 😉  Sometimes I add other ingredients if I have some fruit or veggies leftover in the fridge.

3 tbsp – Plain Yogurt
2 handful of frozen blueberries (fresh if in season)
1 tbsp – Cacao Nibs
1 Scoop – Vanilla Plant Based Whey Protein
1 tbsp – Honey
1/2 tsp – Cinnamon
1 tsp – Chia seeds
1 tsp – Ground Flax Seeds
2 cups – Almond or Coconut Milk
1/2 cup – frozen spinach

Blend for 90 seconds.

Drink and enjoy.
